The short version: we collect as little as we can, we don’t sell it, and we don’t record your conversations.

What we collect today

Teatime is in a pre-launch pilot. Right now the only personal information we collect is what you give us when you request an invite:

  • your email address
  • your city, so we know where to open tables first
  • what’s new in your life, if you choose to tell us (for example, “just moved”)
  • your time zone, read from your browser, so we can seat you at the right hour
  • the site that sent you to us, if your browser shares it

Our servers also keep standard request logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and debugging. These are kept for a short period and are not used to profile you.

How we use it

  • to invite you to the pilot and tell you when there’s a seat for you
  • to send occasional updates about Teatime, which you can opt out of at any time
  • to understand who is interested and in which cities, so we can decide where to open

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Conversations

When tables open, video calls will not be recorded and there will be no transcript. The one-line weekly updates you write and your table’s shared thread are visible only to your table. We will update this page with the details of how calls are carried before the first table opens.

Who processes it

Your information is stored in a database on servers we run on Amazon Web Services in the United States. If we start using other providers (for example, to send email), we’ll list them here.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete anything we hold about you. Email hello@helloteatime.com from the address you signed up with and we’ll handle it within 30 days.

Cookies and analytics

The public site does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

We use our own cookieless analytics to count page views, clicks, page speed and errors. It stores no cookies, doesn’t identify you across sites, and never records what you type into forms.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and, for meaningful changes, email you first.
